The People’s Bead 2009 was a huge success! I got on the site www.peoplesbead.com and voted for my favorite bead. The deadline for voting on the top ten beads is June 15th. Winner will be announced August 14th. The two I liked the most are shown at the left. I entered a bead before the deadline in the US, but it was past the deadline in Denmark to be accepted. I just had to share this letter from Lise Aagaard thanking everyone who made it a success.
From Lise Aagaard of Trollbeads, Denmark:
Dear Trollbeads friend
Thank you, thank you and thank you for playing along in People’s Bead 2009! Words can not explain how exciting it has been seeing all the different ideas from everybody all over the world and it was lovely to see how much time, effort and creativity everyone put into their entries.
After making beads for more than 30 years, the first many years only within the family and the last 9 years with extern designers, it has been an adventure to study the suggestions coming in one by one. Most of the suggestions we have thought of making a thousand times –and some of them we really have made – but there were also some that we never thought of, very creative brilliant ideas that didn’t make the final so don’t be surprised if you hear from us one day.
Although your bead was not chosen as one of our finalists, I would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to submit your design.
From the thousands of entries we received we managed to select our top ten favourites. Now it’s up to you to pick the winner by voting for your favourite at www.peoplesbead.com
The finalists have been selected based on a number of factors. Originality of course; but just as much the brilliant idea, image/sculpture quality and fabulous text. Not all finalists cover all of these but we trust that you will study closely and make your choice based on your desire. We have thrived to have a bead for everyone; a serious, a not so serious, a spiritual, an ‘empowerer’, a sweet, a personal, a worldly, a not so worldly and so on. ……and of course also one ‘the unexpected’.
The diversity in the finalist was important for us because that is what Trollbeads is all about.
Don’t forget that as a thank you for taking part in People’s Bead 2009 we will be sending you a copy of the winning bead when it is released in August so make sure you vote for a bead that you actually want to receive.
I’m looking forward to seeing what you, the people, choose as your People’s Bead!
Best wishes,
Lise Aagaard
